This does not contain practical advice, so it is not a self-defense tip but a statement of fact.
In October 2010, Al Qaeda, in its English-language magazine Inspire, urged its followers to use trucks as weapons. Also in 2010, Boris Johnson, then the mayor of London, ordered removal of barriers from London Bridge and other busy pedestrian areas including Tower Bridge Road, Kings Cross, Baker Street, Hyde Park, The Strand and Piccadilly because the barriers were “ugly.”

One would think that by 2014 for certain all cities in Europe would have barriers protecting areas with large pedestrian traffic from cars and trucks driven by ISIS or Al Qaeda followers, but no….
Finally, in June 2017, steel and concrete barriers protecting pedestrians were installed on several bridges in London (below: barriers on Westminster Bridge).

Other cities still wait…. I guess in Europe there are many Boris Johnson-like aestethically-minded mayors who think such barriers are ugly and costly, that an attack won’t happen in their town, and should it happen they will lay some flowers, light candles and all will be ok.
More rammings to come….
