In these unsettling times, having a self-defense item for my safety gives me emotional peace of mind. Thank you for providing such a great product!

I have wanted one of these for a long time and when I finally got one I wasn't disappointed. It is a sturdy, stylish, and excellent umbrella with a smooth opening action. It is a simple design and only has one velcro strap which keeps it looking sharp when rolled up, unlike many other umbrellas I have had.
It is also very light. I have not used it in the self-defense sense yet. I also appreciate the forethought in including the rubber tips for the end of the umbrella that touches the ground.
This has always been one of my issues with other umbrellas I have owned, the part that comes in contact with the ground wears down and I have to do some ugly hack to make the tip more durable. When I see that this issue has been dealt with already, it tells me that a lot of thinking ahead happened before this product went to the market.
I would also like to give a shout-out to Mr. Kurz for his customer service. When I was faced with a minor technical issue in regard to the online training recommended with this umbrella, Mr. Kurz immediately contacted the company to fix the issue.
This attention to customer issues mirrors the attention to detail of the product, a greatly appreciated professionalism in both construction and customer service, and I would have no problem recommending this company to anyone.
As to how I will use this umbrella. Unfortunately, my formerly happy little city is now overrun with drug addicts and predators of many kinds. I used to be left alone because I am a big guy, but now that I am in my 60s, the street predators don't see big, they just see old, and I am getting more attention from them than I would like.
This umbrella gives me another dimension to defending myself, and that makes me walk more confidently than I might otherwise, which is definitely making me less attractive as a target.
I am practicing the blocking and striking moves I am learning in the excellent "Dos Manos" system that was recommended along with the umbrella, and, as a novice, I have no illusions about what my capabilities are at my age.
I have made up a couple of the sparring sticks that Mr. Floro describes in one of his videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWbGxTb2OgU
I have a training partner who is much younger and I am learning this as best I can. Even if it only gives me enough surprise and time to get away, then this is worth much more than I paid for it.
Thank you Mr. Kurz for a wonderful product and a worthwhile solution to the problem of urban intimidation.
I have included a picture of the sparring sticks I made in the style of Ray Floro. I measured two bamboo poles to the same dimensions as the umbrella and covered them in duct tape.
I chose multicolored duct tape just because I thought it was funny to think of getting your ass kicked by a rainbow.
I have also made a simple tag with my details on it and the offer of a reward if the umbrella is found. This was made of a cut-down luggage tag, some elastic cord, and some waterproof tape. It is unobtrusive and folds up with the furled umbrella.
I hope all purchasers of this product find utility and enjoyment as I have.

My walking stick is a wonderful umbrella. The canopy size is terrific, the quality is superb. It is an outstanding umbrella, not to mention the self defense side of it. Putting that aside, it is a wonderful umbrella! I take it everywhere. With just a couple of straps of “velcro” it is a permanent part of my backpack.

Umbrella is good and sturdy, but it can be better.
Suggest a twist cap screw locking mechanism upon manually release the shaft to lock for secure and closing to twist and turn screw cap mechanism back to manually close the umbrella shaft handle.
Also, if the umbrella can be slightly smaller (for asian) size to keep the umbrella perfectly in a small handbag or waist pouch. the current model though is improved smaller version but still I require a laptop bag size in order to keep the umbrella which is still a little big bulky for me.

1. canopy frame easy broken , recommend to redsign and use different materials
2. Service is good from your team
Like many others, I was initially excited and wanted to like this product a lot. However, after several uses, I was left with nothing but disappointment. Perhaps those who had better experiences got the cane model, but I wouldn’t know. I chose the more compact U-212 telescoping version, and while it has a solid and sturdy shaft that could conceivably do some damage as an impact tool, its ultimate weakness lies in its use as an umbrella. It’s just too flimsy.
This week has been particularly rainy in my area, and I discovered that the canopy frame lacks the rigidity to withstand even mild or moderate wind gusts. I’m talking about average winds of 5-10 mph. While other umbrellas can maintain their structure, this one bends to the point where the canopy wraps around your head, leaving the rest of your body exposed. In a nutshell, it’s only ideal for rain when there is almost no wind. Anything beyond that, and you’ll end up taking a bath.
By comparison, I have much cheaper umbrellas that do a far better job of withstanding winds. It’s worth noting that the wind tunnel test for this umbrella was done with it facing away from the wind, rather than into the wind, as is done with the cane version, which I found rather peculiar.
The bottom line is that while the idea of a dual-function umbrella is nice, its execution still needs improvement to make it a truly functional everyday tool, rather than something that ends up as an expensive gimmick collecting dust at home.
Went into NYC to see a broadway show with family and carried my telescopic model u202 for about 15 blocks each way and walked into show with security not even blinking an eye ..after practicing with it beforehand i felt confident that this heavy duty defensive unbrella would definitly help with a situation where i would have to defend my famiily.
Excellent; having the second run-through at slower speed is great, and the simplicity & effectiveness is apparent. As with other Real Self-Defence items it’s great, thanks.
Great quality as an umbrella, even better to have some additional security when out in the world. Size is easy to carry/store and does not attract attention or limit access to secure locations
