— DIY Assembly kit — for customers who want to save on our cost of assembly and don’t mind spending on it about 8 minutes, plus a 24-hour wait for a threadlocker to cure.
— Fully Assembled — for customers who are personal protection professionals, are familiar with similar tools, and want it ready to use out of a box, even though it costs more than the DIY Assembly kit. This page describes the Fully Assembled version.
Being a personal protection professional, you certainly realize that a compact U-303 (only 10.4 inch long), but weighing 1 lb 3.2 oz (545 g), it feels massive in a hand, so its deniability is low–it doesn’t pass the “stranger test” as easily as our walking-stick umbrellas or Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-212s. This has implications for air travel.
Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-303 vs. 2×4
Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella comes with an Emergency Car Window Breaker.
Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella model U-303 is shipped with tools needed for its maintenance, because it has parts that may require replacing due to wear-and-tear. These parts are the canopy (like our previous telescopic models), two springs located in its shaft, and the umbrella’s grip — in case it is scratched or cracked.
Both springs are very sturdy, unlikely to wear out, but knowing that reputable manufacturers of products with friction locks similar to that of model U-303 offer replacement springs, we decided to make our springs replaceable too. The grip is hard to break, but we know that some users will put scratches on it by hitting hard objects with it, so we made it replaceable too.
Replacing the above-mentioned parts, and performing other maintenance, is simple, once you see how Model U-303 is assembled. To see it assembled, click here. Please note: The end tube of the Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model’s U-303 telescopic shaft is made of high-strength construction steel, not stainless steel, and so are parts inside that tube. Should water get inside the shaft, the shaft should be removed from the canopy, and the retaining-spring’s assembly should be unscrewed from the shaft, so to remove water from the shaft, dry its inside, and then oil it. Oiling is to be done by putting a drop of machine oil inside the end tube and then moving the friction-release mechanism back and forth by the umbrella’s handle.
Whenever your umbrella gets wet, leave it open to dry. Allow your umbrella’s canopy to dry fully before folding. Otherwise, mold will grow on the umbrella’s fabric. As mold grows, it creates enzymes, which digest the fabric’s fibers on which it is growing, causing permanent fabric damage and weakening, with a result like this case described.
The Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella is for defending against….
IMPORTANT!
Our Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella is for defending against elements (in every meaning of the word) and not for clowning. It is covered in a high-quality waterproof fabric, not in abrasion proof or slash proof fabric, because it has to look, weigh, and work like a normal umbrella, so do not expect this fabric to be undamaged if you strike objects with the Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella.
