How to Carry and How to Fold Short Models of Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella (U-202s and U-212s)

Important Instructions Because Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Got Popular with the Wrong Kind.

It is normal that the Model U-202s’ handle spins freely when the telescope is retracted. When the telescope is extended, the handle and the rod are blocked from spinning but one can overcome the lock with mild force.

For the Model U-202s telescope’s blockade to hold well, the rod has to be pulled energetically, with a snap, so its ball-bearing lock can engage fully.

Please note: Telescopic shaft of the Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-202s is made of high-strength construction steel, not stainless steel. After exposure to water the shaft needs to be wiped dry and lightly oiled. Should rust spots be allowed to occur, they need to be removed with a Scotch-Brite pad or steel wool, prior to oiling. Oiling is to be done by putting a drop of machine oil on a soft cloth and rubbing both the tube and the rod of the shaft with the cloth.

Whenever your umbrella gets wet, leave it open to dry. Allow your umbrella to dry fully before folding. Otherwise mold will grow on the umbrella’s fabric. As mold grows, it creates enzymes, which digest the fabric’s fibers on which it is growing, causing permanent fabric damage and weakening, with a result like this case described.

IMPORTANT!
Our Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella is for defending against elements (in every meaning of the word) and not for clowning. It is covered in a high-quality waterproof fabric, not in abrasion proof or slash proof fabric, because it has to look, weigh, and work like a normal umbrella, so do not expect this fabric to be undamaged if you strike objects with the Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella.

Went into NYC to see a broadway show with family and carried my telescopic model u202 for about 15 blocks each way and walked into show with security not even blinking an eye ..after practicing with it beforehand i felt confident that this heavy duty defensive unbrella would definitly help with a situation where i would have to defend my famiily.

I love my Unbreakable umbrellas. I have two, and this one was purchased for travel as the full sized one does not meet many airlines guidelines for carry on umbrella sizes. I had no problem from airport security, they did want to look at it, and just said that it was a “well built umbrella.”

    Highly reccomend!

Unfortunately, the unbreakable umbrella broke immediately after I took it out of the box. One of the grey plastic clips that connects the umbrella rib to the skeleton of the umbrella broke as I was opening the umbrella for the first time. I understand that the main telescoping portion of the umbrella may be unbreakable, but if the other key components that allow the umbrella to operate are at the other end of the strength spectrum it can’t really be considered unbreakable. One component of a multi-component system being unbreakable does not define the nature of the system; the weakest component has that dubious honor.

I’m very happy with my Unbreakable Umbrella. I have traveled by air around the US and Asia with it. It is very sturdy, and I keep it in my backpack all the time.

Q & A

Ask a question
Hi Team! Firstly, I have ordered the U-202s and eagerly awaiting its arrival. Also I’ve pondered over time and got a few more questions. 1. I understand you have a Disclaimer that the deniability is low for the U-202s due to its weight, and that this has implications for Air Travel. I assume this means that the U-202s may not pass as Carry-on baggage in the Cabin area, but will it successfully be able to be packed into a big suitcase as Checked baggage every time without hassles? 2. Is the Unbreakable Umbrella Fabric irritated by sweat from hands, thus possibly causing Fabric damage when it is carried closed up for an extended time? 3. Finally, it may sound like a silly question, but is there a proper way to dry an umbrella? All my life I just leave mine open sitting on its side, whilst others on the internet state to hang it upside down. Is either drying method OK for Unbreakable Umbrellas? Thank you once again for your time and information. Best regards, Ivan Ivan asked on Sat, 24 Sep 2022 14:28

Question 1: I assume this means that the U-202s may not pass as Carry-on baggage in the Cabin area, but will it successfully be able to be packed into a big suitcase as Checked baggage every time without hassles?
Answer: Yes.

Question 2: Is the Unbreakable Umbrella Fabric irritated by sweat from hands, thus possibly causing Fabric damage when it is carried closed up for an extended time?
Answer: It is not, unless you have abnormal sweat.

Question 3: See Use and Care Instructions for Model U-202s at https://real-self-defense.com/product/unbreakable-telescopic-umbrella-u-202s/#Use-and-Care

Hi Team, I already own 3 of your products, U-115, U-111 and U-212s, but have not used them yet for any purpose. They are simply looking pretty in my home at the moment, but I will eventually use them sometime soon for different occasions. I also intend on purchasing the U-202s soon, to add to my collection. My 3 product questions will be the following: 1. I understand from watching your videos, that one should try to hit on object or enemy with the handle of your telescopic umbrellas. Can I feel free for the sake of connecting a hit of any sorts to not be afraid of hitting a target with the telescopic shaft with either the U-202s or U-212s? Will this type of hit damage the shaft? 2. I like to have weapons of different shapes and sizes. I understand your old U-202 was longer than the U-202s, and this has me interested too. Do you have plans to produce more of the U-202, or do you have hidden spare stock of these to be sold on special release? 3. Finally, to a more complex question which affects all your umbrellas. I understand you state if an umbrella gets wet, to leave it to dry fully before folding. This statement on your advice regarding the fabric has me perplexed. I am sure other customers and potentials would also like clarification on this very important issue. For example, if I attend an amateur soccer match and bring any Unbreakable Umbrella with me on a mildly rainy day, I will fold it for half-time break for about 20 minutes to get food and drink inside the club premises. At the end of the match, I will stay around socialising inside the club premises for about 30 minutes in which the umbrella will be closed too. Plus the umbrella will be folded in my car for an additional 30 minutes on the way home. Given the above example of potential usage, would you conclude that your umbrella fabric can handle normal usage, or are they so delicate that one should not fold a wet umbrella, not even for 5 minutes? Please clarify so I know how long they can be folded temporarily, before one reaches home or office to let them dry fully. Thank you. Best regards, Ivan Ivan asked on Fri, 26 Aug 2022 19:55

Can I get one of the old-fashioned 'window-breakers' rather than the apparently newer one that just came with my (recent loss replacement) umbrella which has what looks like a traditional screw-head point? I liked the other one better! Please advise. Thank you. Alex Frediani asked on Sat, 09 Jul 2022 03:28

The glass breaker is plenty robust. Try it on your car's windshield, and you will see.

202s back in stock? Purchased the walking stick and interested with the premium one thank you Bobby asked on Fri, 06 Aug 2021 12:20

We make U-202s on orders from a wholesale buyer. Orders like that are for just a couple of hundred units, but we make more units to take advantage of lower production cost per unit. At this time we do not know when the buyer plans to order another batch of U-202s. In a meantime instead of U-202s we offer a lighter, more comfortable, more "deniable" Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-212s.
