Self-Defense Tip 132 Your Phone, Their Spy

Do you know that with the GPS switched off, your smartphone’s location still can be tracked? Usually, every few minutes a cell phone pings cell towers, which are used to triangulate the phone’s location.

Do you know that the data on your smartphone may be remotely changed (think planted evidence)?

Your phone, with access to its camera, microphone, GPS data, and all your data on it, may be taken over remotely, legally and illegally, even if the phone is switched off. A few years back, it was possible to remove the batteries out of many phones, and thus interrupt all that spying. Now, most phones don’t offer that option. However, there are smartphones with physical switches, that can’t be overridden remotely, for turning off cameras, microphones, WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular signal. Below are links to info on two such phones.
