Terrorists Crave Attention, Media Obliges

Another failure countered his sense of unimportance by hurting many people. Media helped.

A mess-up wanted to get attention and, for a lack of other qualifications, killed and maimed many people — and media obliged as usual. They showed his picture and broadcast his name and his wannabe affiliation — instead of just stating that yet another mess-up hurt so many people to give himself a sense of importance. They also gave generous publicity to a terrorist organization the screw-up claimed an affiliation with.

I am all for giving the means and technical details of an attack, such what weapon, how it was deployed, etc., but not for boosting a wretch’s ego and indulging his need to be “somebody.” What do you think?

  1. Agreed to the point that you put the blame on the press. People want to draw their own assessments about why this guy went off the rails. Suppressing his identity and background would only lead to conspiracy theories and similar problems. My question is where are all the Texans who carry weapons for defense?
